Wingstop is one of the world’s most popular fast food restaurants, most popular for their chicken wings. It’s known to be extremely popular, especially among Taft students. In the Taft area, we have a few Wingstop locations that aren’t too far to get to by foot.
There’s a location by the HIP, located in the middle of the little plaza between Harlem and Leland. There’s also a location by Ainslie and Milwaukee, by the Kennedy Expressway. Wingstop is known for being focused on takeout and delivery, as compared to Buffalo Wild Wings and their sports bar-centric casual dining experience.
There aren’t a lot of Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants in the Taft area, with them being scattered throughout the city. One notable location, though, would have to be the location at Village Crossing, by the AMC movie theater. Another one would be the Buffalo Wild Wings Go! Location that recently opened, by Oak Mill Plaza.
Wingstop has yet to open a ‘Go!’ location, or a location primarily focused on having customers pickup their orders at a drive-through, which is very convenient for people who don’t feel like getting out of their car. This already puts Buffalo Wild Wings at an advantage.
Buffalo Wild Wings also has a broader menu with more options for wings, appetizers, and beverages, while Wingstop has a simpler menu, with more of a grab-and-go approach. Prices are around the same for both restaurants, thanks to inflation.
You may question why Wingstop is more favored over Buffalo Wild Wings, then, if it seems like Buffalo Wild Wings has the bigger advantage over drawing in customers. But is it really limited to menu accessibility, or is quality preferred over quantity?
I personally like Wingstop more because their seasonings are better put-together. At Buffalo Wild Wings, you’re bound to have your food taste weird depending on the day, and it’s good that they have more options on the menu, but you can’t beat the overall taste of the food that Wingstop has.
“I like Wingstop more because their wings are just more flavorful, in my opinion,” said Serenity Harris, a homeschooled junior.
“I don’t go to Buffalo Wild Wings often, but I know they have more stuff on the menu. I think Wingstop wins though because of their flavors. The fries are always the best too. If you got fries at Buffalo Wild Wings, it may be a hit or miss,” continued Harris.
“I love everything at Wingstop. The seasonings, the flavors, the prices, it’s just better in my opinion,” said Alex Valadez, a junior.
“At Buffalo Wild Wings, they leave way too much skin when they cook the chicken and it leaves it crunchy or chewy. Their sauce is also watered down. Wingstop’s sauces are thick and not chewy, they just taste better,” said Karla Echeverria, a junior.
Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion and what they prefer when it comes to chicken wings, but there’s no doubt that Wingstop is the clear winner in this fight.
