Spotify’s 2024 Wrapped finally came out on Dec. 4 and tons of people were either happy or had mixed feelings with their personalized recap of the music they love.
Spotify began to create their yearly “Wrapped” in 2016 as a marketing tactic and since then it became a pop-culture rival between other music platforms like Amazon Music and Apple Music. Spotify releases their Wrapped between Nov. 29 and Dec. 6 every year.
Spotify’s yearly Wrapped allows people to view compilations of their personalized data and activity on the spotify platform over the year. Spotify now includes detailed insights like the total minutes streamed, your music mood and go to’s throughout the year and even some highlights from trends around the world. There’s even a “Music Personality” quiz that matches your personal music preferences with your specific traits. People can view compilations of past music and artists they loved within that year. They also allow users to see what was their most played songs and what songs they have listened to the most.
Then Spotify invites them to share their own Wrapped on social media so others can view them and see what type of music that person enjoys. It usually encourages viewers when they get shared which is a benefit for Spotify.
Taft junior Anna Polan said, “My top artist of this year was Drake.”
She added, “I thought this year’s Wrapped was okay, I didn’t really like how my top songs were mostly songs I listened to in the beginning of the year.”
Polan concluded with, “My most played songs were ‘Right My Wrongs’ by Bryson Tiller, ‘Crazy Story’ by Only The Family feat. King von, ‘Clouded’ by Brent Faiyaz, ‘3 headed goat’ feat. lil baby and polo g and lastly ‘jimmy Cooks’ feat. 21 savage by Drake. And all those songs I listened to at the beginning of the year.”
Taft junior, Jalisa Ross stated, “The genre I listened to the most this year was Hip-Hop.”
She added, “My number 1 artist this year was Drake.” Her number one song was “Nikes” by Frank Ocean and she listened to 75,255 minutes of music this year.
In conclusion users tend to have more of the songs they listened to on their Wrapped from the beginning of the year and not more towards the end of the year when Spotify is editing the Wraps. Users seem to enjoy Spotify’s yearly Wrapped and people will continue to look forward to the day they release them.
