Taft’s new principal is here to stay! The Taft community is buzzing with their opinions on Ryan Glowacz, and are wondering how he will adjust to this new title as principal. One may wonder, what’s it like being Taft’s new principal and what are the plans for the school moving forward?
“We have a very diverse student body at Taft, with students and staff alike coming from all different parts of the world, and I believe that alone can guide us into success,” said Glowacz.
Glowacz revealed that he has a long history with Taft, being a staff member for 14 years, making him feel connected to the community through and through. He aims to tackle more first-hand experiences with students, and help teachers in hand. He believes it’s important that the teachers are motivated first, so that they can guarantee the same environment for the students. He also reveals his plans of continuing the new annual spring dance, as well as opening doors for more activities and extracurriculars outside of class.
“When I went to Taft, the teachers were full of light, constantly motivating me and others to push ourselves to the fullest. I think that has to do, in part, with why I wanted to become an educator,” said Glowacz.
With this new role in place, it is important to take note of what problems might arise throughout the year, and how Principal Glowacz can combat them.
“I hope he can focus on helping students with their mental health, especially since it becomes stressful during the school year, with many new things to handle all at once. And it can feel like everything is crashing down,” said Alyssa Oliva, junior.
Taft is committed to inclusivity and paving the way for a safe space for all students. We may have two campuses, but we will always be connected with Eagle pride. Having a lot of students means we get to see things from many different perspectives, and it helps make Taft what it is today, which is no different from the stance Glowacz intends to make during his time as principal.
“Being able to make friends in your classes and having a good support system to be able to get through the day is a thing I appreciate,” said Oliva.
This year, we may have new obstacles, new teachers, and a new principal, but the goal stays the same – we should all stay determined to make this year the best it can be. Go Eagles!
