The 2024-2025 NFL season has just begun and week 2 had its share of victories, injuries and upsets that had a lot of mixed opinions online.
Kansas City Chiefs Tight End, Travis Kelce, was noted as a “Fantasy Loser” by ESPN, racking up only 1.6 points in week two. In the 26-25 win over the Bengals, Kelce caught one of three targets for five yards, with an additional one-yard run.
Tampa Bay’s Running Back, Rachaad White, put up 3.30 points after suffering a groin injury during their game against the Detroit Lions. He was projected 12.46 points.
Week 2 wasn’t just about all of the losses and injuries, New Orleans Saints Running Back, Alvin Kamara, was a major shock for many fans, putting up 44 points in week 2. In the 44-19 win over the Cowboys, Kamara carried the ball 20 times for a total of 115 yards and three touchdowns.
But the biggest shocker was that the veteran Running Back caught two of his three targets for 65 yards and caught his last target for a fourth touchdown. Kamara’s most impressive play was in the second quarter as he took a screen pass 57 yards to the endzone for a touchdown.
Los Angeles Chargers Wide Receiver, Quentin Johnston put up 22 points with two touchdowns in their 26-3 win against the Carolina Panthers.
“Quentin Johnston was on my bench with 20 points after scoring two touchdowns,” said Cassandra Rothbart, Math teacher and Head JV Flag Football Coach.
Unlike many, Rothbart didn’t experience any week two injuries, “But Jordan Love spraining his MCL diminished my versatility.” Jordan Love is the Green Bay Packers quarterback who suffered his injury against the Philadelphia Eagles during week one.
During week two, there was a very heated matchup between senior students Isaac Gainey and Maddie Beazley. Gainey won their match up with the final score concluding at 154.8 to 126.
Gainey’s top starters in his Fantasy leagues were, “Devon Achane, James Cook, Nico Collins, Amon Ra St. Brown, Justin Jefferson, and Marvin Harrison Jr.” Beazley’s top starters in her fantasy leagues were, “Lamar Jackson, DeVonta Smith, Bijan Robinson and Brandon Aiyuk.”
When asked about how the match up went, Beazley had some very strong opinions about the week. “There’s a lot to say, I know he’s paying off those players because there’s no way he scored 154 points with Marvin Harrison Jr. on his bench with 29 points,” said Beazley.
This week really didn’t go her way as she described week two as, “Bad.” Gainey on the other hand only had this to say, “I destroyed Maddie Beazley 154.8 to 126.”
A tough rivalry isn’t the only thing these two have in common. Gainey’s favorite part about Fantasy Football is, “Winning.” Beazley’s favorite thing about Fantasy Football is also winning. “Winning in my other league. I’m 2-0 in that one. I destroyed Bella Alfaro in Fantasy,” said Beazley.
