Taft security is all around. The security guards are all here to make sure students stay safe and hold them accountable. They are back again this year to keep everyone in check.
The new security guards are located all around the school, the main places being the 264 bathroom, the 207 bathroom, the lunch room, and throughout the hallways. More than 15 security guards are watching the school throughout the school day.
Taft has hired some new security guards who are developing experiences through working with more experienced security guards and working with Taft students.
“I feel really good about this school year. I’m used to working in grammar schools so it’s definitely different. Some of the kids wanna be treated like adults but don’t act like adults,” said Jose Perez, Taft Security Guard. “I used to be a custodian and I became a security guard because of the pay bump and I enjoy working with kids. I like to guide them the right way because I can relate to a lot of them,” he continued.
Perez has worked at Taft for one year. He is one of the newest security guards. All of the new security guards like Perez have learned a lot from the more experienced security guards. He also can teach kids a lot because he can relate to them on a deeper level.
“I feel like the new school year is starting off better than others. Mr. Glow knows what he is doing. I definitely feel like I taught them a lot and hold them accountable when I need to,” said Angel Muniz, Taft Security Guard.
This is Muniz’s third year at Taft. He can also help the new security guards adapt and keep students in check and make sure to hold them accountable because he’s a more experienced security guard.
“I love being able to protect kids and keep them safe… I also feel like this year is going very well. Mr. Glow has definitely made a change around here,” said Lui Mojica, Taft Security Guard. “… Didn’t choose Taft, Taft chose me,” Mojica continued.
He’s always there for you if you ever need to talk or have someone by your side, he is very encouraging, and he helps students be on time for class.
“I wanted to help kids grow and become better humans and better attributes to the world…I also graduated from Taft High School so I thought it would be a super fun experience coming back…I also feel that it is way better than last year and the kids this year are more mature and know how to act,” said John Balzrin, Taft Security Guard.
Overall the Taft Security Staff members have made Taft a better and stronger place, and continuously protect everyone at Taft. These security guards all have great things to say about their jobs and they can’t wait to learn more!
