The 2025 senior class is ready to move onto the next chapter of their life and experience bigger and better things. Choosing the right college is a major decision that impacts your academic, personal, and professional future.
There are specific classes at Taft that help you prepare for college. Those classes being Senior Seminar, and AVID. Both of these classes help you set yourself up for a successful future. From submitting college applications, to filling out financial aid applications, to filling out scholarships, to then learning how to budget as a young adult.
Senior Seminar teacher Juan Salinas said, “Early on, students engage in career and college research to explore their options. As they begin their applications, we provide support and dedicated time to complete them. We also help students strengthen their college choices by preparing for the financial side—this includes scholarship applications and guidance through the FAFSA process.”
Salinas continued, “Once students receive their acceptance letters, we work with them to evaluate their options, factoring in financial feasibility and other important considerations. After they’ve made their decision, our focus shifts to ensuring a smooth college transition, helping them navigate registration, campus resources, and college life.”
College is super important especially in the generation we live in. It is very important that you get a further education than high school or you pursue a trade. Some students at Taft are excited for college and ready to achieve their long term goals.
Senior Reem Elsaim stated, “I am attending Harvard University, I found it very suitable for my future in the medical field since it’s well known for its strong academic performance. I will be majoring in biology because I want to study medicine and become a surgeon.”
In conclusion, choosing the right college is a key decision that impacts your future. And a piece of advice before you enter college is, “Stay engaged, and use your resources” Salinas also stated.
